Regarding Social Security Disability Insurance

Filed Under Politics, Retirement | Leave a Comment

I wanted to share a memo I received from Allsup, INC regarding SSDI benefits. They are handling my claim for me and I can vouch for them being an outstanding company. Anyone wanting more information just email me.

Greetings Donald:

I wanted to update you about the recent news from the Social Security Administration (SSA). Whether you’re already receiving your Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or awaiting a decision on your application for benefits, the 2009 cost-of-living increase announced for SSA retirement benefits also applies to those receiving Social Security Disability income.

In 2009, benefits will be raised by 5.8%. If you are already receiving SSDI benefits, this increase will be included in your January 2009 payment.

If you’re awaiting a decision regarding your SSDI benefits and you’re eventually awarded, you will receive an annual increase in your benefits at the beginning of each year.

It’s one of the advantages of obtaining SSDI benefits – your payments are adjusted each year for annual cost-of-living increases – based on the rate of inflation for the goods and services people purchase.

Read more about the 2009 COLA increase here in our recent press release, “Social Security 2009 Cost of Living Increase Will Help, But People with Disabilities Will Still Struggle to Meet High Costs and Existing Debt, Says Allsup.”

The SSA also announced that most people will not experience an increase in their Medicare Part B premium for 2009. We know that after receiving SSDI, you then might need some help selecting the right Medicare plan for you from the dozens of plans available in your local area.

Whether you have Medicare now and want to make sure you have the best and most affordable plan for 2009, or you will soon qualify for Medicare, why not let Allsup do all the work for you with Allsup Medicare AdvisorSM?

This service simplifies the complex process of selecting the right Medicare plan for those with disabilities, from researching all your options to helping you enroll in the plan you choose.

And, for a limited time, you can take advantage of Allsup Medicare Advisor at a special reduced rate.
